Now I can connect and disconnect without any hitches ( e.g. (You can skip the pulseaudio stuff if that's not important to you I did.) The following wiki article and this script came in handy to get it done right. You can do your own debugging and see if you have the same issue, but it's probably quite likely that you do.Īs noted above, I decided to follow the tip given by the developer in #1855 and installed xrdp (and xorgxrdp) from source with the -disable-ipv6 config flag. This led me to the following 2 GitHub issues, which referenced the same error I was seeing in journalctl -f: #1777 and #1855. Meanwhile, I tried connecting to the xrdp server via Remmina (RDP client). I debugged the issue by watching journalctl -f on the Pi in one SSH session and running nordvpn connect and nordvpn disconnect repeatedly in another. As a result, no new X11 sessions are handed out to clients. ![]() The result is that xrdp-sesman is not reachable at port 3350, as it should be (and is without the VPN). That, is turn, interferes with how NordVPN handles IPv6 traffic. ![]() Namely, their /etc/xrdp/sesman.ini config file does not seem to respect the ListenAddress parameter correctly (it interprets an explicit IPv4 address as IPv6). As u/pennyhoard20 correctly theorized above, this IS an issue with xrdp. ![]() I finally got it working perfectly by installing xrdp and xorgxrdp manually from source.
